ATTA Internship Program

The Adventure Travel Trade Association is looking for adventurous, creative, and hard working interns with a passion for responsible travel. This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading global organization, learn about the adventure travel industry, get exposed to the events and activities that ATTA organizes, and get a deeper understanding of how the industry works and why adventure travel matters.

About Our Internships

For current students and recent graduates, this is an opportunity to learn about careers in a growing, dynamic, rewarding industry, while starting on the path toward being tomorrow’s innovators, travel industry leaders, and ATTA members.

ATTA members span the spectrum of the adventure travel industry and come from around the world. Interns will have the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere, communicating with the ATTA team and ATTA members, while learning about the industry, contributing to the goals and initiatives of the association, and gaining practical and applicable work experience.

Desired Skills
  • English language proficiency
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with using Internet, email, basic document programs, Google Drive, etc.
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to work remotely with internet access
  • Additional skills needed depending on department

Program details
  • Internships are unpaid
  • These are remote, part-time positions with flexible hours
  • Minimum requirement of 12-15 hours per week
  • Student must have access to computer and internet
  • ATTA will work with your school to be eligible for course credit 
  • Each program will last four to six months. Program extensions may be considered

Marketing

The marketing intern role consists in support with content creation for social media platforms, writing engaging email campaigns, and designing marketing materials with the supervision and training of the marketing supervisors. They will also contribute to analytics efforts, tracking and assessing campaign performance metrics.

Latin America Team

The Latin America Regional team is looking for a multi-faceted person, who can work with written documents, analyze spreadsheets and prepare presentations for clients. We are looking for someone who is a team player and can respond to short deadlines. 

If selected, you will be involved in the coordination of projects implemented for adventure and nature tourism developing destinations in Latin America, including ATTA events, among others.

Adventure Travel News

We are seeking someone with strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills. You will work with the Adventure Travel News editor to source and produce global stories for a trade audience.

Adventure Travel Guide Standards

The ATGS intern role offers an exciting opportunity to work with the volunteer members of the ATGS Governance Board, who are themselves experienced adventure guides and adventure travel business owners from around the globe, conducting outreach to the adventure travel community and supporting / working on the Governance board’s ongoing projects and goals including translations, research and training.

Visual Communications (Design)

The Visual Communications Intern will collaborate with the ATTA Graphic Designer to assist with graphic design and visual communication tasks across the organization.

This role involves learning and working on a range of skills, such as basic design principles (e.g., typography, color, composition, information hierarchy), design thinking and strategy, production for print and digital formats, visual branding, presentation design, file management, infographics, and photo selection and editing.

Product Development & Growth

The Product Development intern will support the product development team with tasks related to improving existing products or creating new products at ATTA. A proactive mindset ready to support the team to improve process and project management activities as well as an analytical interest in research and reporting is expected. As well as willing to engage in content development activities and development of user journeys for ATTA products creation or improvement.

Adventure Travel Conservation Fund

Grantee Coordinator

The Grants Team coordinates all things having to do with the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund's annual grant award program. The intern will have an opportunity to create and manage the 2023 cohort of global grant winners, including monitoring KPI, reporting and storytelling. 

Web and Copy Writing

The Outreach Team coordinates all aspects of external facing communication with the adventure travel community, including the Adventure Travel Conservation Funds members, partners and travelers. The intern will develop and implement a website rehaul, and support with developing original content for our communications.

CRM

The Operations Team manages the internal systems and operations for the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund. The intern will support the Executive Director, and external consultant, in implementing and launching a Salesforce customer resource management (CRM) system.
